· Outlook: Conditions are deteriorating but are attempting a rebound
With the elections only a few weeks away, Wall Street’s attention has shifted to corporate earnings—and for good reason. Widespread concerns about inflation, interest rates, job creation, and economic growth are prompting investors to reassess earlier assumptions and consider whether a broader shift is underway.
The Dow 30 chart suggests the index may be beginning to roll over, though a new uptrend could also be forming. It is still too early to determine the direction. Corporate earnings over the next few weeks will likely clarify the trend.
Bank earnings are in focus today, and the results reported so far have been mixed. A clearer picture should emerge after the market closes, when four major banks report and the broader trend becomes easier to assess.
After several down days last week, the market has resumed more normal trading but remains in a wait-and-see mode. Recent government reports have introduced doubt and hesitation, even as the broader outlook continues to favor economic growth and solid corporate earnings.
The Texas Senate race remains highly competitive, and campaign advertising is intensifying. As of October 2026, Talarico had raised $68.6 million for advertising, compared with Paxton’s $9.25 million. Much of Talarico’s funding has come from out of state, raising questions about what that level of outside support may indicate.
