STOCK MARKET RATING (THE BIG PICTURE) …
Bullish/Bearish Rating: 6.5 = bullish (1 - 4 is bearish, 5 is neutral, 5 - 9 is bullish).
Market/Economic Condition: Normal market, economic data improving
Outlook: Have reinvested sidelined cash, expecting slow improvement
The market continues to be quite volatile. From these levels, higher oil prices send the market down, and lower oil prices lead to a higher market.
Meanwhile, economic news for the current period seems to be improving, but keep in mind that these economic numbers are coming off recent lows. Also, keep in mind that economic data already reported this year have almost universally been revised downward. That happens every year because the factors used in making seasonal adjustments are adjusted after the March data comes in.
I’m looking for the market trend to be upward (reaching new highs) even while volatile swings in prices continue.
