We turned bullish in our Tuesday, April 13 Blog and since that time, the DJIA has risen 10.8%, the S&P 500 has risen 12.3%, and the NASDAQ 100 Index has risen 14.3%. Once again, rising interest rates and higher oil prices are forcing stock prices down, as they should; higher costs drive down corporate profits. The market can bounce back from this, if oil prices and interest rates begin to recede as they did a few weeks ago. Truthfully, I’m am a little worried that this time will be different.
I will be reviewing the situation to assess the fundamentals and what the likely direction of future stock prices will be.
The economy has been really good, but investors have been reluctant to reward the market with a large upward movement in prices with so many uncertainties on the horizon.
