INVESTMENT INSIGHTS by Robert Holman, CFA CFP®
STOCK MARKET RATING (THE BIG PICTURE) …
Bullish/Bearish Rating: 6.5 = bullish (1 - 4 is bearish, 5 is neutral, 5 - 9 is bullish).
Market/Economic Condition: Normal market, economic data mixed
Outlook: Expecting slow improvement
Once again, the market continues to be quite volatile – a few good days followed by a few bad days. Oil prices and interest rates continue pushing the market either up or down. If either is higher, they send the market down, and if either is lower, they lead the market higher. The DJIA is less than 2% higher than last Christmas, and we are approaching mid-year. The S&P 500 is up around 6% over the same period, and the NASDAQ 100 is up 12%.
I’m still looking for the market trend to be upward (reaching new highs) even while volatile swings in prices continue, as long as the Iranian situation progresses in a positive direction.
