STOCK MARKET RATING (THE BIG PICTURE) …
Bullish/Bearish Rating: 6.0 = Bullish (1 - 4 is bearish, 5 is neutral, 5 - 9 is bullish).
Market/Economic Condition: Normal market, possibly a declining economy
Outlook: Precarious, reinvesting sidelined cash, “negatives” at the doorstep
Our market rating is once again bullish with a 6.0 rating. It’s hard to give anything higher when the economy is giving indications of slowing growth. Plus, the precarious ceasefire agreement with Iran is the demarcation point for the rally, but it is so tentative because anything can still happen. The U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is a good example of the issue(s) that need to be overcome. Uranium enrichment is the other principal issue still unresolved.
We are fully invested and no longer hold positions designed to profit from a down market.
The bearish economic indicators, some of which are negative, are mostly backward looking. But, whatever trend is in motion usually stays in motion until an event brings about a change. The signing of a cease-fire (peace) agreement may be that event. In addition, corporate profits (concurrent/lagging factor) are looking pretty good, and profits are the main determinant of the trend and level of the stock market (with roughly a 94% positive correlation with the market).
