MARKET BULLISH … My rating opinion is 8 (0 - 4 is bearish, 5 is neutral, 6 - 10 is bullish). The market remains bullish but overbought. You can expect Mr. Market to continue moving sideways and sideways-up, with a lot of volatile, bold ups and downs.

ECONOMY and MARKETS … February retail sales declined, as did several other February data releases. The market declined a bit in reaction to the retail sales news. But, it seems like the drop would have been larger, except that new stimulus checks are on the way to consumers. The market is looking forward to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters when the vaccine changes consumer behavior.

The key concern in the markets continues to be inflation, interest rates and as always, employment. Add to that stock price levels compared to earnings (valuations). If you missed my writeup about interest rates, inflation and unemployment, please go back and review the 2/28 eNewsletter.
