12:00 TUESDAY – Stock Market Report #195 – 2/7/23

by Robert Holman | The Defensive Advisor | www.defensiveadvisor.com

STOCK MARKET RATING … 7.0 (0-4 bearish, 5 neutral, 6-10 bullish). My assessment of present and future market conditions is now a “7” out of 10, due to so many bullish signs.

Objective: Make this an actionable report, a short 2 or 3 minute read, and give the reader an opportunity to contact us for help managing their portfolios - click here for more information and help.

It’s sometimes hard to sound optimistic when the markets are headed down, but I am. That’s because we can see “there” from “here”.

We may be nearing the end of the Fed’s rate-hike cycle. Inflation is decreasing in a slow decline. We are left with at least one more rate increase, and a lot of jawboning.

Looking ahead, we are due for a slight economic pause. So, we’ll collect our dividends for a couple of quarters, then as the economy heads back up, we anticipate the return of capital gains. The market has already recovered about of a third of it’s 2022 decline. We anticipate the market will be – relatively – stable. We expect plenty of ups and downs that recently have ended up with little change.

The market always looks ahead, and currently it is focused on Fed rate increases and economic decline. But, it won’t take long for the market to switch to anticipating a return to growth.

I’m nearly fully invested in all accounts, primarily in broad based, dividend paying ETFs.

TO MY CLIENTS … THANK YOU FOR YOUR TRUST. We’ve had great success since we started this RIA in mid-2018 and are doing better than the market return since that time period.
