STOCK MARKET RATING (THE BIG PICTURE) … 7.0 BUT EXPECT A POSSIBLE DIP OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS (1 - 4 is bearish, 5 is neutral, 6 - 9 is bullish). My 7.0 overall market rating means that price dips should be used to make purchases at discounted prices.
THE ECONOMY SO FAR
Second Quarter GDP increased 3.0%; welcome news to the markets. The Fed Chairman has stated the FOMC may lower interest rates soon. Although significant uncertainties remain, the S&P 500, the DJIA, and the NASDAQ 100 have reached new peaks. The green light is on for adding to or establishing new positions. But, keep an eye open for anything that could disturb this momentum.
THE MAIN TREND
As I published in the last three reports, according to analyst Seth Golden at Finom Group, since 1956, once the S&P 500 retraces 50%+ of its bear market decline, the S&P 500 index rose to all-time highs over the next 12 months, 100% of the time. This bodes well for sticking with our performing portfolio positions and selectively adding new ones on price dips. Under these circumstances, investors should deploy cash reserves consistent with their risk tolerance.
